Periotest

The periotest will provide information as to the stability of the implant/ abutment. The periotest is the size of a pen, and when activated, there is a ‘hammer’ that taps against the abutment. The periotest will provide a value, which is then evaluated over time. Typically, a negative value means a stable structure, however a more positive value could also mean the implant/abutment structure is stable, which is the reason that the testing evaluated over time.

For the child or adult patient, the periotest is recorded at 3, 6, 9 month per the doctors discretion, and can also be used in the Operating Room.
