Digital Swallowing Workstation

iRSM uses the Digital Swallowing Workstation (KayPENTAX, Lincoln Park, NJ, USA) to record Modified Barium Swallow exams (x-ray video taken of patients while swallowing various food/drink).  The Digital Swallowing Workstation allows for analysis of these videos to provide information about patients’ swallowing function.  It also has the capacity to be used in swallowing therapy by using tongue manometry and surface EMG (electromyography) technologies.  Also, the station can be used with rigid and flexible scopes, which are used to visualize patients’ nasal, pharyngeal and laryngeal areas.
