Quality

In keeping with the spirit of innovation that is a trademark of this program, iRSM has successfully applied the internationally recognized ISO 9000 standard within a health care context as the framework for operational functions. In 1997, iRSM was one of the first publicly funded programs in Canada to receive registration of a quality management system to the ISO 9000 quality standard. iRSM has updated its quality system to the ISO 9001:2000 standard (with increased emphasis on objective continuous improvement and customer satisfaction), and has applied the system to the management of its research activities.

iRSM was the first centre worldwide to register an ISO 9000 compliant quality management system for intraoral, extraoral and bone conduction amplification applications of osseointegration biotechnologies. As a result of its success, iRSM is widely sought after to assist other international centers in similar quality management development efforts.

iRSM's ISO 9001:2000 system supports a comprehensive system of outcome measures for ongoing management of treatment processes, promotes a culture of continuous improvement, and results in cost effective, efficient care. Additionally, the registration of iRSM's research system under ISO 9001:2000 in 2007 has facilitated management of a growing research program with participants from many institutions and countries.
